Oh, forgot to mention... if those e-mails get too irritating you can always turn notifications off in your twitter profile.

Hi Doncha,

Thanks for the comment. If only enough people were interested in following me to make the e-mails annoying ;-).

Likewise on the guilt thing... but there are plenty of people who feel a natural compulsion to reciprocate when somebody says they want to be "friends".

Guess it's human nature.

Twitter is fundamentally an opt-in platform, so I'm not convinced the spam thing really holds water -- and the blacklist is just daft. You can't define a spammer by the ratio of followers to people followed.

Will be watching developments with interest.

I find the notification emails annoying but they've had the effect that I just delete those mails now. I have no guilty feelings about not following anyone who follows me :)

Your welcome Gordon... and all the best with the project.

It must be a pretty daunting thing to do -- but I reckon the more you put in, the more you'll get out.... Will be reading with interest.

Hi Charles,

I will, of course.

I'm all for exploring other options. I guess the point I'm making is that Google is so pervasive and genuinely useful that it's going to be a tough call for smaller competitors to offer more.

Not saying it's impossible... but it's a tall order.

Cheers,

Will you still try some of the 100 alternatives that we suggest?
